Capsicum fruit extract is a highly concentrated solution made of ripened fruits of Capsicum annuum, Capsicum frutescens and some other related plants popularly called chili peppers. Fruit extract is different, and in contrast to taking the extract of other parts of the plant (e.g., seed or stem), fruit extract targets the edible, and usually spicy part of the pepper, which would also be naturally rich in capsaicinoids, vitamins (similar to vitamin C) and antioxidants.​

Extraction Process​

It is traditionally obtained by drying the chili peppers followed by extraction of the active components with solvents (ethanol is a favorite) or with supercritical CO 2. This is done by removing too much fiber and water which leave a strong extract that contains capsaicinoids of which capsaicin is the most common and most studied. The highest amount of capsaicinoids contained in most commercially available extracts is 10 percent, and most fall in a range of 0.1 to 10 percent guaranteeing consistent product strength.​

3. Fat Oxidation: Enhancing Fat Breakdown​

Capsaicinoids inhibit the activity of lipoprotein lipase (LPL), an enzyme that helps store fat in cells.
